More Catching Up! from Night Owl Quilting

Ready to see some more wonderful quilts now that I have resurfaced after my summer break?

First up in this fantastic Pineapple quilt made by Anne.  The bright batiks were a great choice for this quilt.

Anne and her niece chose the Terrace pantograph.  The beautiful turquoise backing was the perfect compliment to the front.

Monica made this King size quilt - it is hard to get a sense of the size from a photo but it was 110' x 110"  There are so many interesting fabrics that you get to appreciate in the simple layout.  The Calder pantograph added just ...

Winter Mittens from Night Owl Quilting

I am happy to share a quilt that is all mine!  This quilt came together a part of a Queen Bee block swap I participated in last year.   Every month one member of the group would select a block pattern and the other participants would make two blocks and pop them in the mail.  I selected this free Winter Mittens pattern from Sew Fresh quilts and sent everyone a piece of my background fabric.

Here are some close up photos of all the cool blocks I received.

Seasonal Sampler from Night Owl Quilting

The is Mary's festive Christmas quilt.  The quilted started out with Mary following along with the American Patchwork and Quilting Seasonal Sampler 2022.  Mary substituted some of blocks for others she found and liked to truly make the project her own.

I love all the fun Christmas fabrics Mary included.  She told me the fabric in the present block was from a stocking she made for her son when he was young.

Mary selected the Snow Winds Pantograph and a white thread to make sure it didn't take away from all the darling blocks.

Mary found a lovely ...

Hockey Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This unique hockey themed quilt was made by Marion.

Marion found this little hockey theme panel and some Winnipeg Jets fabric and some other bits of this and that to put together this fun quilt.

To go with the snowflake backing fabric Marion selected the Snow Winds pantograph.  I think the whole quilt just came together perfectly.

Chilly Mammoths from Night Owl Quilting

I can's get enough of Reneta's version of  the Chilly Mammoth quilt pattern from Art East Quilting Company.  These mammoths are a nice generous size, one makes a perfect baby quilt and the four of them come out at 78" x 87."

If the first one wasn't cute enough, how much do you love the hat and scarf?

I immediately knew the perfect panto for this quilt - Snow Winds.  Reneta's background fabric had some silver metallic accents so I used a shiny grey Magnifico thread in color 2165 - Stainless Steel for the quilting.

Snowmen A To ZZZ from Night Owl Quilting

I had the pleasure of working on this lovely version of the Crabapple Hill Studio's "Snowmen A to Zzzz" pattern.  Barb did all of the hand embroidery and crayon shading, and mom Dorothy assisted by piecing the blocks together and adding the borders.

Barb selected the Snow Winds pantograph and it makes for a very pretty quilt back.

In order to not overwhelm the delicate hand embroidery, I used my favorite thread for this type of application - Superior's Microquilter.  It is a 100 wt. polyester and it melts into the embroidery beautifully to let the embroidery remain ...

Snowflake Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

I recently got to quilt Reneta's take on the very popular Snowflake Quilt by Modern Handcraft.  Reneta of course made the scrappy version being the scrap quilt queen that she is, and decided to add more squares than the original to suit her size preference.

Reneta requested a snowflake pantograph and "Snow Winds" by Barbara Becker was the choice, and I suggested a shiny white Maginfico thread for a little bit of shine.
